To the most beautiful woman in the world

I really wish I could be saying this to you in person. I still can't get over the fact that you're gone. It seems as though it was just last week when we were visiting you in the hospital, when I rushed over after my freshman walk.

I remember how I'd come home everyday to you in bed, sleeping or playing on my old iPhone. You'd always ask how school was and it would always be the same answer, okay. It's not that it was uninteresting or that I did not want to tell you. It's just that I did't want to burden you anymore with my problems and how much I was missing my life in the Ateneo. I just wanted you to think everything was alright, even if most of the time it wasn't.

I'll always remember how much you loved Ateneo and being a CPR, because it seemed to be a sort of therapy for you. You always seemed to enjoy your monthly CPR meetings and get togethers with the other CPRs. Now whenever I visit the Ateneo, your passio and dedication to my class will always come up in my mind. You played not only a big role in my Ateneo life, but for the rest of AHS E2012 as well.

I really miss you right now and I hope you're finally at peace. Free from pain, free from suffering and turmoil that you endured while here on earth. I know that you immediately went up to heaven that night in the hospital because you already spent your purgatory during your last few months here on earth.

I miss you so much mom. I love you. Happy Birthday Mom

Once Upon A Time

When I was growing up, fairy tales played a HUGE role in my childhood. My parents would always read me my favorite fairy tales and I'm pretty sure I was always watching classic Disney movies on VHS and the like. I remember watching Snow White on Laser disc  Peter Pan, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan etc on VHS and even Aladdin on Betamax (don't ask how HAHA). Then when I was 2, my parents took me to the US and while we were in California, they took me to Disneyland where I fell in love with fairy tales even more.

In 2011, I was introduced to the show Once Upon A Time. I had heard quite a bit about it from my friends' tweets and they say it is definitely worth watching. All I can say is that from the time I downloaded the first episode, I immediately fell in love with the show. From the characters to the story line, this show was perfection in my eyes.

I love how this show has taken all of our favorite fairy tale characters (Snow White, Prince Charming, The Evil Queen, Little Red Riding Hood, etc) and updated them to a more modern setting, giving them depth and levels and showing us a different side that we would've never seen from the original tales (Snow White and Granny being a badass for example).

I swear, to anyone who loves Fairy Tales, this show is a much watch. I highly recommend this show to anyone, from a young child to an adult in their mid-40s and even to senior citizens because I know anyone who's grown up with fairy tales will surely love this.

Catch Once Upon A Time, Sundays at 8/7c on ABC.

A trip to Mount Samat

As part of our Philippine History class, we took a field trip to Mount Samat and Subic. One of the requirements for the class was that we document our trip and instead of creating a scrapbook/slideshow of pictures, I decided to create a video documentary instead.

Enjoy!

Pet Peeves (10.25.12)

So I was recently looking at some recent family photos, and I noticed how bulge-y my stomach seemed. Now, I know that I may be a bit on the heavy side, but I did not expect to look like this in these images. My stomach and moobs (man boobs) looked like they would if I were naked... which is weird because when I looked at myself in the mirror and before I left the house, I felt fine. I felt like my shirt fit me in just the right ways.

This isn't the first time this happened, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's experienced this. That feeling of looking and feeling great in clothes and pictures, then being disgusted when you see yourself in the picture. How does this happen? Are our minds playing some sick, twisted game to make us THINK that we look fine in our eyes, but horrendous in the eyes of others?

I just wish clothes would look as good as they feel...

New Sched for a new sem

Yeah, so I just got my new sched (minus the PE) for the 2nd semester. Honestly, I'm not loving it at all I hate it. Back then, we had a 2 hour break on most days, and 1.5 hour breaks on the others (1 for Fridays though). And, although we start later this semester, we barely have any breaks. We only get one hour breaks on MW, and I still don't know our PE schedule, pero I strongly feel that it'll fall on a friday. The only consolation is that we still get our 1 hour 30 minute breaks on Tuesdays and Thursday.

But on the other hand, our classes will last until 5:30 (TTh) and 7 (MW) :( It'd be fine if I dormed or lived near UST. BUT NO... I live on the OTHER side of NCR... It'd take at least an hour and half for travel time </3 plus dinner, rosary and other responsibilities...

UPDATE: My PE for the next sem is Track and Field... LAWD

I really hope I survive next semester hayz.

This isn't my usual type of post, but I really need your help guys

Yeah, so right now I'm taking Biology at UST. We're having this contest/pageant thing called the "Mr. and Ms. Biology Personality 2012"

Now, one of my best friends was lucky enough to make it to the final round. Each of the finalists went through a photoshoot and their best photos were posted online... Here's the part where I need your help. Just like in this season of America's Next Top Model, the fans get to voice their opinions and vote for who they'd want to win. The number of likes a photo gets is one the major components that the judges will be looking at during the coronation night.

So, as a human being and as a friend, I'd just like to take a short amount of your time and ask you to like this photo for my bro :)

Just click on the picture to see the link :) Thanks so much in advance!

I survived my first sem in UST (10.20.12)

My grades for the first sem! I honestly didn't think I would pass because of my grades in Bio Lab and Filipino... but thank God (and my profs) that I managed to pass with flying colors <3

These grades are a wake up call. Okay, first semester of first year was the adjustment period. I get that. Now that the second semester is right around the corner, I'm ready to come back, and fight harder than I ever did last semester.

I'm just thankful that I got this "second chance" to come back next semester and take all my classes with (hopefully majority) of my blockmates. I feel like an All-Star on a reality show HAHAHA

I definitely need to bring my A-Game next semester, I swear it.

Streaker Run!

Hey, I just downloaded this new app and I wanted to share it with y'all! Hahaha

So this app is called Streaker Run! It's one of those running apps (like Temple Run, Brave, Subway Surfer etc).

The premise of this game is that a woman is caught having an affair with another man (the default character is the delivery boy), so when the husbad catches them in the act, the "streaker" jumps out the window and streaks through the neighborhood with the husband chasing him.

Overall, I think that this is a fun game which retains all the elements we love from Temple Run, but with some added twists and turns.

Definitely a must buy. An 8/10 in my eyes!

"Lucy Liu doesn't want to 'look a little Filipino'" reaction

So, just last October 11, Lucy Liu made a special guest appearance on The David Letterman show. Early on, David complemented her [Lucy] on her body, saying that she looked like she was in shape. When he asked whether she ran indoors or outdoors, she said indoors because it was easier and because if she ran outdoors, she would get darker and look "a little too filipino."

I honestly don't get why some of my fellow Filipinos are offended by that.

First of all, Filipinos are naturally dark to begin with. It's in our history and blood. I don't see why being dark is considered a bad thing. If it's true, why take offense when someone else says it.  If someone were to say that we were hardworking, people would be so excited. But if someone were to say that we were dark, people would find it offensive. Both statements are true anyway, so why be offended by the latter of the two?

Second, have you ever been to a Filipino supermarket/drugstore? There are literally shelves full of skin-whitening products. Literally, there are so many skin whitening soaps, lotions, creams, oils etc. I don't think we have to be so defensive about her [Lucy] statement since our culture knows this and is trying do change the way we look anyway.

Anyway, this is just how I feel about her interview. I'm not offended by it at all. Maybe some people are, maybe some aren't. I don't know, that's there opinion.

Here's her interview on The David Letterman show. You'll find her comment within the first minute.

Je ne sais quoi

Just wanna explain what these je ne sais quoi posts are all about.

Je ne sais quoi is french. It literally means I Don't Know What. It is an intangible quality that makes something distinctive or attractive.

So basically this just means it's for everyday things I find attractive, whether they're conventionally pretty or not

Glyco and the Beats

Hey guys, so me and some friends decided to create a sort of "spoof" of the opening number from the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast for our Biology class, using the topics Glycolysis, Kreb's Cycle and ETP (Cellular Respiration in general).

Sadly enough, my group didn't get the grade we had hoped for.

We ended up with a 66.25/100 Do you think we deserved this score?
